Smart people should build things

Today’s world runs on maker ethics. Talking is good, making is better. And talking about what you made – even better.

  • If you lead people – Show your thoughts with writing articulately. Clear thinking and articulation is essential in giving direction to people.
  • If you design – you should have a compelling portfolio on a website or behance/dribbble. Beautiful, eye-catching work is the minimum.
  • If you code – Show your thing on GitHub.

Credentials get you in the room, but you need to show your work to get ahead. Work samples cut through the noise, bridge the gap between what is asserted and what is understood. In high stakes, high uncertainty environments, they provide grounding.

This is actually the name of a book.
